Usually the heat source circuit, e.g. boiler, heat pump or other heat source.

Temperature entering the heat exchanger from the heat source.
Temperature leaving the heat exchanger on the primary side.
If known. If no heat load was entered, a flow rate is required for whichever side you use for the duty calculation.

Secondary Side

Usually the load circuit, e.g. heating system, cylinder/DHW circuit, thermal store or cold mains water.

Load side
If known
Temperature entering the heat exchanger on the secondary side.
Temperature leaving the heat exchanger on the secondary side. If unknown, enter the temperature you are aiming to achieve.
If known. If no heat load was entered, a flow rate is required for whichever side you use for the duty calculation.
